Mon. May, 16 2011That is the day where the power usage forecast expect a consumption of 99% of the produced electricity for the 東京 area...
(here is the website -updated everyday and in real-time- where you can see it: http://setsuden.yahoo.co.jp/)

That has actually been the forecast for some time now and with the shutdown of 浜岡, I wonder if the 99% will not turn into 100. Well, 浜岡 is not exactely near 東京 as such, but given the fact that Chubu, the power plant owner, has been selling electricity to the now infamous TEPCO since the tragedy, that additional lines to 東京 might not be there anymore. Unless they keep purchasing LNG cargoes like we have seen over the last couple of months, making the LNG price climb up fast (luckily the oil pace slowed down). Or maybe local players like 東京ガス or J-Power will manage to increase their capacity when needed? Well, I wish I was connected to one of them; that would avoid this kind of problem, I guess.

So, this is forecast, this is coming for the end of the week and I haven't heard anything about scheduled blackout? Should we get ready for some unexpected switch offs at home and office?

The answer? This Friday!
